Abdul Latif Jameel Motors — Toyota’s exclusive distributor in Saudi Arabia since 1955 — has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Energy Observer Developments (EODev) of France and UAE-based Octopian Global Services to accelerate the rollout of hydrogen-powered generator technologies across the Kingdom.
The agreement represents a major milestone in Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ wider plan to expand its hydrogen initiatives beyond mobility and into commercial, industrial and stationary power sectors. The move aligns closely with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s objective of establishing itself as a global leader in hydrogen solutions.
Through the partnership, the three companies will collaborate to introduce, test and eventually localise EODev’s hydrogen power systems in Saudi Arabia. Among these technologies is the GEH2 stationary hydrogen generator — powered by Toyota’s fuel cell technology — designed to provide stable, zero-emission energy for multiple operational environments.
This collaboration builds on Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ earlier work in hydrogen innovation and strengthens its role in advancing cleaner, sustainable energy systems across the country.
Mazin Ghazi Jameel, Managing Director of Toyota Marketing Operations, emphasized that the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to enabling Saudi Arabia’s transition toward low-carbon energy. He highlighted that expanding hydrogen applications beyond transportation into broader industry and commercial use will contribute to a more efficient national energy framework.
EODev Deputy CEO Stéphane Jardin noted that the partnership supports the company’s international growth while demonstrating the value of the GEH2 generator in markets focused on reliable, zero-emission power alternatives. He added that combining EODev innovation, Toyota fuel cell technology and Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ market experience creates a strong platform to accelerate clean energy adoption in the Kingdom.

The MoU also creates pathways for future developments such as local manufacturing, assembly and building a complete hydrogen generator value chain inside Saudi Arabia.
