Abu Dhabi artificial intelligence (AI) industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, solidifying the emirate’s position as a global hub for AI innovation. According to figures from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the sector expanded by 61% between June 2023 and June 2024, bringing the total number of AI companies to 673.
In just the first half of 2025, 150 new AI firms have been established, fueled by strategic investments, advanced infrastructure, and increasing demand for AI solutions across multiple industries.
From Early Adoption to Real-World Transformation
“Abu Dhabi’s artificial intelligence sector is rapidly evolving from early adoption to real-world transformation, with a growing share of activity rooted in research, strategic consultancy and enterprise-level solutions,” said Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, second vice chairman and managing director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber.
The emirate’s rapid expansion reflects its ability to attract global talent, cutting-edge research projects, and high-impact commercial ventures.
Fastest-Growing AI Hub in the MENA Region
Globally, there are approximately 90,904 AI companies, positioning Abu Dhabi’s 673 AI firms as a significant concentration on the world stage. The data underscores the emirate’s emergence as the fastest-growing center for artificial intelligence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), as well as a global leader in AI-driven enterprise, innovation, and research.
Abu Dhabi’s rise is supported by a network of influential institutions, including the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), which sets policy and strategy for research, infrastructure, and investment, alongside the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII).
Innovation at the Core
More than 58% of AI firms in the emirate focus on innovation, research, and consultancy — evidence of a sophisticated, research-driven business environment.
Al Dhaheri emphasized that the AI boom is about more than just statistics. “It reflects a vibrant, diverse community of entrepreneurs, scientists, and global leaders who recognize the city as a magnet for groundbreaking technology ventures,” he said.
Collaboration Driving Growth
“What sets this ecosystem apart is the strength of collaboration between government and business, global leaders and emerging innovators, and research and industry,” Al Dhaheri added. “At the Chamber, we see it as our responsibility to foster these connections and create the conditions for innovation to thrive, not as an exception but as the standard.”
This spirit of collaboration is a key factor in Abu Dhabi’s competitive edge, ensuring it remains a focal point for investment and enterprise in advanced technology.
Strategic Roadmap for the Future
Central to this transformation is the Abu Dhabi Chamber’s new strategic roadmap for 2025–2028, which prioritizes ease of doing business, policy advocacy, and ecosystem connectivity.
A dedicated Advocacy Working Group on Artificial Intelligence and Technology brings together sector leaders to actively shape the future of AI in the emirate. This initiative is designed to enhance Abu Dhabi’s role as a leader in innovation, offering a distinctive advantage in the global race for AI excellence.
