Airport Show 2026 is set to highlight the rapid transformation of the global aviation industry, with digitalisation, automation and sustainable technologies expected to take centre stage when the event takes place in Dubai in October.
The airport industry is undergoing a major shift as emerging technologies reshape facilities, operations and passenger services. With global air passenger traffic forecast to surpass 12 billion by 2030, airports across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) are accelerating investments to expand capacity, improve efficiency and meet rising passenger expectations.

Against this backdrop, Airport Show 2026 will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from October 12 to 14. The event is expected to bring together airport authorities, civil aviation officials, operators, consultants and technology providers to examine how the latest industry trends are being translated into practical projects and operational solutions across fast-growing aviation markets.
A key focus will be the GSE Zone, which will showcase the latest developments in sustainable and autonomous ground support operations. Exhibitors will highlight electric equipment, smart technologies and efficiency-focused solutions designed to modernise airside operations.
Jaffar Dawood, Divisional Senior Vice President for UAE Airport Operations at dnata, said the ground-handling sector is entering a significant period of transformation driven by technology, changing customer expectations and the aviation industry’s sustainability objectives.
He said dnata is using the GSE Zone as a platform to showcase developments in ground support equipment and airport operations. The company is investing US$110 million in 800 new ground support equipment units across 10 countries, while gradually replacing diesel-powered equipment with hybrid and electric alternatives.
dnata is also testing autonomous technologies in the UAE. Its trials of TractEasy EZTow autonomous baggage equipment are aimed at reducing manual processes while improving safety and operational efficiency on the airport ramp.
These initiatives are part of a wider effort to develop scalable technologies capable of supporting the future requirements of airport operations, including those associated with the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport.
Airport Show 2026 is expected to attract more than 150 exhibitors and 150 buyers from over 20 countries. The event will also feature several co-located industry platforms, including the Global Airport Leaders’ Forum (GALF), Airport Security Middle East, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Forum and the Women in Aviation (WIA) Middle East Conference.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, the 25th edition of Airport Show is expected to welcome more than 7,000 visitors from over 30 countries.
May Ismail, Event Manager at RX Middle East, the organiser of Airport Show, said modern airports have evolved considerably from their traditional role as transportation facilities.
According to Ismail, airports are increasingly becoming complex, passenger-focused commercial hubs that must address changing expectations while upgrading ageing infrastructure and improving facilities. She noted that major redevelopment projects are helping airports enhance usability, design and the overall passenger experience while creating a stronger sense of place.
