Alat, a PIF company specializing in industrial transformation, has joined forces with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to introduce the “Alat-KAUST AI Training Program.” This program aims to equip students in the science and engineering disciplines with advanced AI skills.

Preparing Future Leaders in AI: The Alat-KAUST AI Training Program

Running from June 23 to August 3, the eight-week program is designed for top bachelor’s degree holders or senior scientific and engineering students. KAUST and Alat will work together to form a panel to choose qualified candidates.

Alat CEO Amit Midha expressed excitement about collaborating with KAUST on this intensive program, covering various topics. These include advanced computer vision techniques, robotics, and state-of-the-art reinforcement learning. He called it an ideal illustration of how teamwork can aid in developing future leaders by giving them practical experience with advanced and dynamic AI technologies. He believes this will prepare them to take on real-world AI challenges.

The program consists of six weeks of in-person instruction. This will be followed by online mentorship and a hackathon in the last week. Students will learn about deep learning concepts, develop their computer vision skills, and become more adept at reinforcement learning techniques. The curriculum also includes boot camps and a session at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.

Director of KAUST Academy, Dr. Sultan Albarakati, also stated that by enrolling talented students in an advanced program at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, they are preparing them to lead in solving real-world problems as well as deepening their understanding of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, computer vision, and robotics.
