A Strategic Alliance to Strengthen Greece’s Data Infrastructure

In order to build a state-of-the-art data centre in Spata, Greece, European utility PPC Group has teamed up with Dubai billionaire Hussain Sajwani’s Edgnex Data Centres, a division of the UAE-based conglomerate Damac Group. With an initial investment of €150 million ($157.3 million), the joint venture seeks to strengthen Greece’s position in the expanding field of digital infrastructure.

Highlights of the Facility and Plans for Future Growth

Under the direction of Edgnex and PPC, the project will build a 12.5 megawatt data centre at first, with ambitions to increase its capacity to 25 megawatts later. This cutting-edge facility is a calculated response to Europe’s growing need for digital services and cloud computing.

Data In Scale (DIS) Collaborative Enterprise

Damac Group will own 55% of the new company, Data In Scale (DIS), while PPC Group will keep 45%. Construction on the project is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025, and the first phase should be operational in two years.

Sajwani’s Digital Transformation Vision

“Our joint goal of building a top-notch data centre that meets the various and changing needs of the modern digital economy is reflected in this partnership with PPC,” Sajwani said. The project is in line with Edgnex’s overarching goal of promoting innovation and growing digital infrastructure globally.

The Diversification Strategy of Damac Group

Damac Group is mostly known for its real estate endeavours, although in recent years, it has been expanding its holdings. The business has pledged to make large investments in digital infrastructure across the globe through Edgnex, including a €400 million project in Spain and a $1 billion project in Thailand.

This joint venture with a base in Greece further demonstrates Edgnex’s dedication to promoting technical innovation and establishing itself as a market leader for data centres worldwide.
