Flydubai Breaks

Dubai, UAE — In a strategic move to bolster its operational independence and technical capabilities, flydubai has officially broken ground on a new high-tech Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South. The landmark project signals a new era for the Dubai-based carrier as it strengthens its infrastructure to meet the growing demands of its expanding fleet.

Scheduled for completion by Q4 2026, the facility will be flydubai’s first dedicated maintenance hub, spanning an impressive 32,600 square metres. Designed to deliver rapid turnarounds and reduce aircraft downtime, the centre underscores flydubai’s push toward greater self-sufficiency and operational excellence.

A Purpose-Built Hub for Next-Gen Aviation Maintenance

The upcoming Aircraft Maintenance Centre will house a fully equipped hangar, advanced support workshops, and modern office spaces, providing a comprehensive in-house solution for the airline’s technical needs.

The facility is being constructed in collaboration with Group AMANA, a leading regional expert in industrial and commercial infrastructure. Built to international aviation standards, it is tailored to support flydubai’s long-term ambitions and enhance efficiency across the board.

Strategic Location in Dubai’s Aviation and Logistics Epicentre

Situated adjacent to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)—the future largest airport in the world—the facility is located in Dubai South, a master-planned district that serves as a central aviation and logistics hub.

This strategic location will allow flydubai to tap into Dubai’s extensive aerospace ecosystem, further aligning the airline with the UAE’s national goal of becoming a global aviation powerhouse. The centre’s proximity to key transportation corridors also ensures seamless access to supply chains and technical support services.

Empowering a Skilled Workforce of Over 600 Professionals

Once operational, the maintenance centre will support a highly skilled workforce of more than 600 professionals, ranging from line maintenance engineers to materials management experts. These in-house teams will be responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and airworthiness of flydubai’s growing fleet.

By cultivating technical expertise internally, the airline aims to enhance reliability and maintain the highest standards of service, which are critical to its mission of providing world-class, dependable air travel.

A Visionary Leap Forward in flydubai’s Growth Journey

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, described the project as a transformative milestone for the airline.

“This investment marks a defining chapter in flydubai’s journey. Our Aircraft Maintenance Centre is more than a facility—it’s a statement of purpose. It demonstrates our long-term commitment to excellence, innovation, and Dubai’s strategic vision for aviation leadership.”

His sentiments were echoed by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, who called the centre a bold testament to Dubai’s ambition and the emirate’s world-class infrastructure.

“This project reflects Dubai’s unwavering focus on innovation and growth in the aviation sector. It’s a clear indication of our city’s capability to shape the future of global air travel.”

Cementing Dubai’s Position as a Global Aviation Leader

With the launch of its dedicated maintenance hub, flydubai is not only reinforcing its operational backbone but also contributing to Dubai’s broader vision of aviation supremacy.

The Aircraft Maintenance Centre is poised to become a cornerstone of technical excellence and reliability—enabling flydubai to fly further, faster, and smarter, while solidifying the emirate’s role on the world aviation stage.
