Snapchat was created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown. In July 2011, they developed parts of the app to make it whole and named it “Pikaboo.” It was finally rebranded in September 2011 to “Snapchat”. The idea behind the creation was the need for an application that could send disappearing photos. The app is popular now, with so many users making up 210 million snaps every minute. In 2020, Snapchat became one of the most used apps globally after it bagged 280 million downloads. The app is used to exchange messages, pictures, and videos with other users, as well as voice and video calling. Despite Snapchat’s widespread popularity worldwide, some countries do not allow the calling feature within.
Is Snapchat Allowed in the UAE?
It is important to note that Snapchat works in the UAE. But the calling feature does not. For security purposes, some applications have been stopped in the UAE. Most telecom apps that contain features like video and voice calling, like WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Skype, are restricted. The UAE government assigns measures to use these apps to protect its boundaries from threats. Snapchat, however, is not entirely banned in the UAE. It is allowed as far as calling is concerned. But all hope is preserved for users in UAE because the app can be used to call if they adhere to the tip shared below.
How To Use Snapchat in UAE
If connected to a good VPN service, Snapchat calling can work in the UAE. What is a VPN service? A virtual private network, a VPN, is a mechanism to establish a protected network connection when using public networks. It is called an “hider” because it encrypts network traffic and disguises an online identity. This mechanism makes it difficult for third parties to track online activities. It works by enclosing the user’s IP address letting the network redirect the address through an entirely different remote server by a VPN host. This host then becomes the data source to surf around the internet with no obstruction.
Several VPN providers in the UAE include Nord VPN, Surf Shark, Express VPN, Private VPN, Atlas VPN, and much more. In all the VPNs provided, looking for special features like solid privacy, internet speed, and unlimited connections to free streams is essential. Users can be on the lookout for free VPN providers as well.
Steps To Connecting to a VPN
When using a robust and reliable VPN, the connection comes from another country. Therefore, users’ actual location is not needed. They just need to download and install a VPN app. Then, once they are in, they can connect to a country, allowing Snapchat to download the app freely. Then, it works just fine.
Conclusion
Since communication is a way of preserving relationships, it is best to find a way to keep in touch with friends and family, not around one’s present location. This article provides a way to use Snapchat to call if you are a resident of the United Arab Emirates.
