Sheikh Hamdan Reveals 5,000 Emiratis’ Future Technology Training Program

Sheikh Hamdan

A comprehensive plan to teach 5,000 Emiratis in future technologies over the next five years has been revealed by Dubai, marking a significant step towards promoting innovation and expanding technological capabilities. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai, introduced the project on Tuesday with the goal of enhancing national skills in emerging technologies and fortifying Emiratization initiatives in the private sector.

A Plan to Develop Talent in the Nation

After a meeting of the Higher Committee for Future Technology Development and Digital Economy, Sheikh Hamdan, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, announced the initiative. Sheikh Hamdan claims that the training program will give Emiratis the tools they need to succeed in the tech-driven private sector. He underlined that this project is a component of a larger package designed to assist local talent, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and drive startup growth.

Sheikh Hamdan said on his own social media site, “Dubai not only competes on the global stage but also shapes its future by nurturing national talent and creating an environment conducive to creativity and leadership.”

Complementing Dubai’s Digital Future Vision

The project is in line with the goal of Dubai’s ruler and vice president, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, to create a sustainable digital economy that will ensure future generations live wealthy lives. With more than 100,000 UAE nationals working in the private sector for the first time this year, Sheikh Mohammed has been leading the charge to increase Emirati involvement in the industry.

Getting Dubai’s Economy Ready for the Future

Sheikh Hamdan has been a vocal supporter of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in a variety of sectors, emphasizing how important it is for governments and communities to stay up with technological developments. Prompt engineering, which entails creating exact instructions for AI systems to produce desired results, from the creation of creative material to the resolution of challenging issues, is one of the essential elements of this technological push.

Sheikh Hamdan announced a ground-breaking initiative in May to teach one million people AI prompt engineering over the following three years. The Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, which aims to hasten the adoption of AI, includes this ambitious project. To further cement Dubai’s position as a pioneer in technological innovation, training participants will also have the chance to demonstrate their abilities in competitions.

Building Capabilities for the AI Era

“We are witnessing an unprecedented acceleration in technological advancements, and this demands a new set of skills in the labor market,” Sheikh Hamdan stated. He clarified that prompt engineering has become one of the most promising skills, although coding was formerly the most sought-after expertise. “Our goal is to make Dubai the most future-ready city, continuously preparing for the AI era by developing the expertise that supports global technological transformation.”

The second stage of the Dubai Future Solutions project, which aims to develop talent and make Dubai a global center for innovation, was approved by Sheikh Hamdan in June.

Promoting Private Sector Emiratization

The UAE has been making great progress in boosting Emirati involvement in the private sector, which is a major factor in the economic growth of the nation. A key component of this endeavor is the Nafis program, which was introduced in September 2021. Its goal is to have 10% of all skilled positions in private enterprises held by UAE nationals by 2026.

Companies with 50 or more workers had to hire Emiratis for at least 5 percent of their skilled jobs by June 30 in order to reach this goal. In keeping with the UAE’s aim to advancing Emiratization and increasing the contribution of its residents to the country’s economy, noncompliant firms were subject to penalties beginning on July 1.
