Spanish engineering and construction group Técnicas Reunidas has accepted a letter of intent (LOI) for an estimated $1.65 billion engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract linked to a major gas development project in the Middle East.
The proposed agreement will be delivered on a lump-sum turnkey basis and is expected to cover the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of onshore facilities required to receive, process and prepare natural gas for export.
Técnicas Reunidas accepted the LOI on August 15, marking a significant step toward the formal award of the contract.
Onshore Gas Processing Facilities
Under the planned scope, Técnicas Reunidas will develop the onshore infrastructure needed to handle gas production from the field. The facilities will receive and process the gas, bring it to the required specifications and prepare the finished product for export.
The project is expected to be designed and constructed in accordance with international standards covering safety, operational performance and environmental protection.
The planned investment highlights the continued expansion of gas infrastructure across the Middle East, where large-scale projects are being developed to increase production, processing and export capacity.

The potential contract would further strengthen Técnicas Reunidas’ position in the region’s engineering and construction market, particularly in gas processing and large-scale energy infrastructure.
