UAE-Based Disrupt.com Pledges $100 Million to Propel AI-First Startups Worldwide

UAE-Based

In a bold move to redefine the global technology landscape, Disrupt.com, a UAE-based venture builder, has announced a $100 million investment aimed at fostering AI-driven startups worldwide. The initiative, spearheaded by Pakistani entrepreneurs Aaqib Gadit, Uzair Gadit, and Umair Gadit, marks a significant step toward positioning the MENA region as a hub for cutting-edge innovation.

Defying Market Trends to Drive Innovation

At a time when global venture capital funding is witnessing a decline, Disrupt.com is adopting a contrarian strategy. MENA’s venture capital investments have plummeted by 29% in 2024, amounting to just under $2 billion, while UAE funding has dipped by 8% to $613 million. Amidst this downturn, Disrupt.com remains committed to identifying and backing the next generation of technology pioneers.

The company has already invested over $40 million in startups, leveraging a mix of ventures it has built from scratch, co-founded with external entrepreneurs, or supported as a strategic investor. This latest commitment underscores its ambition to cultivate sustainable businesses that will shape the industries of the future.

From Karachi to the Global Stage

The story of Disrupt.com is rooted in Karachi, where the three founders launched their entrepreneurial journey as university students. Their venture began in 2008 with the establishment of Gaditek, a small startup that eventually grew into a global technology powerhouse. The company made headlines in 2022 when its Malta-based subsidiary, Cloudways, was acquired by US-listed DigitalOcean Holdings for $350 million—the largest tech sector exit in Pakistan’s history.

This success provided the foundation for Disrupt.com, headquartered in the UAE, to reinvest its capital and expertise into AI-driven innovation. The firm’s founders remain deeply connected to their roots, continuing to recruit top talent from Pakistan while scaling their global ambitions.

Focusing on AI and Emerging Technologies

Disrupt.com’s $100 million investment will be directed towards five high-growth sectors: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Web3.0, automotive technology, and retail innovation. The firm will focus on startups from the pre-seed to Series A stages, prioritizing businesses with strong organic growth potential and clear pathways to profitability.

“Now is the time to double down on building the next wave of startups that will redefine the world,” said founding partner Aaqib Gadit. “With Web3.0 in its early stages and AI becoming an integral part of our lives, there is immense potential to develop solutions that cater to the evolving ways people live and work.”

Uzair Gadit, another founding partner, highlighted the shifting dynamics of global innovation. “This is a pivotal moment for technological transformation. The next major breakthroughs won’t just emerge from the US or China—we believe that MENA and Pakistan have a crucial role to play in this revolution.”

A Growing Portfolio of Game-Changing Ventures

Disrupt.com’s portfolio already features several notable startups. ZigChain, a Web3.0 platform, boasts over 500,000 users and manages hundreds of millions in assets. The firm also backs PureSquare, a cybersecurity venture, and has made strategic investments in AI-focused companies such as Agentnoon, which specializes in organizational transformation, and Ahya, a climate action scaling platform.

Empowering Pakistani Talent on a Global Scale

Despite relocating its headquarters to the UAE, Disrupt.com continues to leverage Pakistan’s rich pool of technical and entrepreneurial talent. With a global team of over 650 professionals, many of whom are based in Pakistan, the company exemplifies how local expertise can make a global impact.

As Disrupt.com embarks on this ambitious $100 million investment initiative, it sends a strong message: Pakistani entrepreneurs are not only driving technological advancements in their homeland but are also playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of global innovation.
