UAE Tech Leaders Predict a 2024 Rise in Cloud and AI Capabilities

UAE Tech

The UAE is reaffirming its leadership in the adoption of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI). According to a recent research, 96% of tech executives intend to improve cloud capabilities within the next year, highlighting the nation’s ambitious tech goals.

A Country Leading the Way in AI Adoption

The UAE’s advanced digitalisation projects are highlighted in KPMG’s UAE Tech Report 2024: AI, Data, and Sustainability in Focus. Within two years, 27% of poll respondents think AI would transform customer experience automation, and nearly 41% expect to use it to increase operational efficiency. These initiatives are a component of a larger plan to create an innovative, resilient digital economy.

Leading Real-Time Data Processing with Edge Computing

With 99% of executives highlighting the value of edge computing for lowering latency and improving real-time data processing, the UAE is ahead of the global average in this area. This emphasis serves as the foundation for the country’s objective of bolstering its rapidly growing digital economy. Although UAE leaders are somewhat less confident in AI’s ability to spur innovation, both UAE and international leaders concur that AI has the potential to close skill gaps and increase productivity.

Growth-Promoting Strategic Investments

“The UAE is establishing new benchmarks in innovation through its strategic investments in technology,” stated Mohamad Majid, Partner, Digital and Innovation at KPMG Lower Gulf. “The UAE can sustain its competitiveness as a global technology hub and propel economic growth by integrating AI and cloud computing, which fosters rapid technological evolution.”

Pay attention to accessibility, data security, and XaaS.

96% of executives said they intend to invest in “Anything-as-a-Service” (XaaS) technology when the nation adopts a comprehensive ICT policy. Furthermore, 37% concentrate on enhancing data accessibility and democratisation, whereas 40% give priority to data security. These expenditures demonstrate a dedication to promoting digital transformation in several sectors.

Cybersecurity’s Function in a Digital Economy

All UAE tech leaders have adopted cybersecurity, with 100% putting safeguards in place to protect digital assets. But there are still obstacles to overcome, especially in getting investment approval and executive support. There is potential for further advanced adoption stages, since only 3% of UAE leaders are in the early strategic design phase of AI deployment, compared to 11% worldwide.

Long-Term Goal: AI Revolutionising Workplaces

Over the next ten years, AI will revolutionise knowledge generation and sharing, according to 82% of global tech leaders. Local leaders maintain their optimism despite the UAE’s somewhat lower percentage of 73%. Remarkably, 77% of respondents believe AI would allow for a change from repetitive work to more strategic and creative jobs, which is consistent with a larger trend towards automation-driven employment restructuring.

The UAE is positioned as a worldwide leader in technology because to its unrelenting commitment to AI and cloud adoption. The UAE’s strategic investments in cutting-edge technologies promise to spur innovation, improve operational efficiency, and transform industries for years to come, despite ongoing hurdles including gaining executive buy-in.
