Osaka, Japan — The UAE has made a bold leap in emergency response technology with the global debut of its autonomous, jet-powered firefighting drone, ‘Suhail’, unveiled by the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Showcased within the UAE’s futuristic pavilion in the Empowering Lives Zone, Suhail stands out as the world’s first firefighting drone powered by jet propulsion, setting a new standard for rapid-response systems in hazardous environments. The drone, developed to function autonomously through artificial intelligence, is designed to enhance firefighting capabilities in areas too dangerous or inaccessible for traditional vehicles and human crews.
According to the Civil Defence Authority, Suhail delivers high-precision performance, enabling emergency teams to respond swiftly and efficiently in complex fire scenarios while minimizing direct human risk. The authority emphasized that the drone represents a significant advancement in integrating smart technologies into civil defence and disaster management.
The UAE’s participation in Expo 2025, which runs from April 13 to October 13, highlights the nation’s commitment to life-saving innovation and sustainable development. Under the theme ‘Earth to Ether’, the pavilion not only features Suhail but also presents cutting-edge solutions in healthcare, environmental technology, and space exploration.
Gulf Today reports that Suhail is part of a broader national initiative to strengthen public safety infrastructure through advanced tech. With its launch, the UAE aims to inspire global collaboration in emergency preparedness and demonstrate how emerging technologies can revolutionize critical services.
As the world gathers in Osaka to explore visions of a better tomorrow, the UAE’s Suhail drone serves as a powerful example of how forward-thinking design and AI integration can reshape the future of civil defence.
