Thirdeye Systems Receives $10 Million from EDGE
The defence technology company EDGE, located in Abu Dhabi, has announced that it will invest $10 million to purchase a 30% share in Israel’s Thirdeye Systems. The Israeli business focusses on AI-driven electro-optical devices for drone and unmanned aerial vehicle detection.
Furthermore, EDGE has committed an additional $12 million to form a joint venture with the goal of developing and promoting Thirdeye’s technology internationally. Israel’s Defence Ministry must approve the agreement.
Structure of Joint Ventures and Their Strategic Objectives
According to the joint venture agreement, Thirdeye will keep 43% of the business, while EDGE will control 51%. A third-party investor will receive the remaining 6%.
This partnership coincides with growing worries about drone threats, especially for Israel, which continues to confront security threats from the air from organisations like Hezbollah and Hamas.
Thirdeye’s Proficiency in Identifying Battlefield Threats
Thirdeye Systems, which was founded in 2010 and has its headquarters in Netanya, has created sophisticated automated scanning systems that use sensors and infrared imaging to identify swiftly moving threats on the battlefield. The Israeli military and several NATO defence agencies presently use the company’s technologies.
On the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Thirdeye’s stock had a notable 26% gain when EDGE’s investment was announced, bringing its market capitalisation to $23 million.
The Expanding Role of EDGE in International Technology and Defence
With 25 companies working in 140 countries, EDGE, a prominent leader in defence and security technologies, was founded in 2019. Precision weaponry, cybersecurity, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems are among the company’s areas of expertise.
With $12.8 billion in order backlogs, EDGE has been aggressively developing its technology capabilities. Israeli and Emirati defence companies have worked together on a number of projects since the Abraham Accords were signed in 2020. One such project is EDGE’s 2021 collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries to create a cutting-edge drone defence system.
