The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has effectively completed a project to equip its sea customs centers with state-of-the-art inspection devices, a significant move to enhance the efficiency of customs operations at Abu Dhabi’s border ports.
These recently installed devices are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, such as rapid scan capabilities and artificial intelligence systems, which are intended to optimize the inspection process.
The initiative is consistent with Abu Dhabi Customs’ strategic objective to optimize the flow of goods, facilitate commerce, and minimize the time and effort required for customs procedures. These advancements substantially enhance the efficiency of customs operations by expediting inspection processes and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
Five advanced devices have been installed in the Customs Centers at Khalifa Port and Zayed Port as part of the project. These devices are in compliance with international specifications and meet the most stringent standards of radiological health and safety. Khalifa Port is equipped with two devices for scanning bags and parcels, two devices for scanning containers and vehicles, and one device for scanning containers at Zayed Port.
All devices are connected to a centralized control room for continuous operational monitoring, and they are capable of handling up to 120 vehicles per hour.
This improvement to sea customs centers is a component of Abu Dhabi Customs’ overarching strategic initiatives, which are designed to accelerate the inspection process and enhance performance efficiency. The initiative not only enables the efficient movement of products but also promotes the overarching objective of sustainable economic development in the region.
The momentum that was established earlier this year with the successful deployment of advanced inspection devices at the land customs centers in Al Ain is continuing with this initiative, as emphasized by Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Customs.
