Emphasis on Important Issues in Food Security and Agriculture
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) and the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) organizations ASPIRE and the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) have established a new partnership. Yesterday, during Global Food Week and the third edition of the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE) at the ADNEC Center in Abu Dhabi, this cooperation was formally formed.
The collaboration seeks to address urgent issues in sustainability, food security, and agriculture. Developing applied research in cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments, resilient water and energy solutions, sustainable protein and dietary solutions, and larger R&D projects are all included in the scope.
Working Together to Promote Sustainable Solutions
The partnership’s importance in combining ADAFSA’s regulatory experience with TII’s research skills was emphasized by Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII. “By working together, we hope to develop high-impact, sustainable solutions that support regional food security and environmental resilience,” she said.
The CEO of ASPIRE, Stephane Timpano, also underlined the organization’s dedication to building alliances to tackle global issues. “This accomplishment demonstrates our commitment to developing technology for a robust and sustainable future,” he stated.
Principal Aims of the Collaboration
The partnership covers a wide range of topics related to sustainability, food security, and agriculture, such as:
Camel-Derived Immunoglobulin Production: Creating valuable substances for human and veterinary medicine’s diagnostics and treatments.
Producing substitute animal proteins and nutritional supplements that improve health is known as carbon-negative bioproduction.
Freshwater Production using Bioreactors: Providing farmers with energy-efficient water solutions to increase the resilience of food production.
Enhancements to Greenhouses: Developing cooling systems and dustproof coatings to increase greenhouse efficiency.
Using agricultural waste to create bio-based structural materials is one way to promote the circular economy.
The Initiative’s Leading Research Centers at TII
In this partnership, three of TII’s specialized research centers are essential:
Advanced biological and biomedical solutions are the main focus of the Biotechnology Research Center (BRC).
Research Center for Renewable and Sustainable Energy (RSERC): Promoting innovation in water and energy resilience.
Creating sustainable materials for use in agriculture is the mission of the Advanced Materials Research Center (AMRC).
About the Institute for Technology Innovation (TII)
Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has an applied research division called the Technology Innovation Institute (TII). With ten specialized research institutes, TII promotes innovation through international partnerships in the fields of advanced materials, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, biotechnology, and renewable energy.
