Everything You Should Know About Dubai’s New AI Centre

Everything You Should Know About Dubai’s New AI Centre:

Dubai has announced its intention to launch an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre. The Crown Prince of Dubai made the statement at the Emirates Towers, AREA 2071.

Everything You Should Know About the AI Centre

The new AI center seeks to assist government entities in deploying future technologies across numerous sectors. According to Sheikh Hamdan, Dubai will leverage the center to rapidly advance the adoption of AI technologies and the achievement of global technology innovation in the Emirate. Ultimately, the Centre aligns with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of Dubai, to cement Dubai’s position as a global leader in emerging technologies. Sheikh Mohammed stated further stated that the goal is for Dubai’s government to emerge as one of the best in deploying AI technologies across its numerous entities. Thus, the center will be used as a stepping stone toward the achievement of this goal.

The Vice President also encouraged employees in Dubai’s government departments to apply AI tools to enhance productivity and optimize the services rendered. Essentially, the government hopes to see practical applications of the AI tools deployed through the center.

The launch event was also attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. At the event, the Dubai government stated that the Centre aims to train 1,000 government employees from over thirty government agencies on the uses, application, and deployment of AI technologies. The center also intends to launch several pilot projects directed at improving government services and supporting local technology startups. According to Sheikh Hamdan, the Dubai government is confident that developing AI applications will considerably contribute to the actualization of Dubai’s vision for the future. The vision, in this case, refers to Dubai’s emergence as a global hub for advanced and highly sophisticated technologies. The technological leaps currently being implemented by the Dubai government are also expected to have positive effects across sectors like health and education.

Dubai’s AI Strategy

Dubai has been accelerating its AI-related moves in recent years. For instance, the UAE government recently released a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. The primary aim of this strategy is to build the country’s reputation as a global AI destination. However, apart from the national strategy, Dubai seems to have forged its way with an Emirate-centred AI drive.

The Dubai Road Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it has invested heavily in AI technologies. The Authority recently unveiled an AI-based laser technology that can detect 1mm cracks in roads. The technology will be mounted on patrol cars to optimize road monitoring and maintenance across the emirate.

Conclusion

Dubai’s recent policies and initiatives show that the government is serious about positioning the Emirate as a global technology leader. In the coming years, Dubai is likely to emerge as a preferred hub for tech companies and enthusiasts seeking to launch operations in the Middle East market.
