Increasing Cross-Border Academic Cooperation
On December 1, a group of academics from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates visited Bahrain’s Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre (NCST). The purpose of the tour was to promote collaboration in specialized university studies, strengthen partnerships in vocational and technical education, and ease the regional and global interchange of expertise.
Emphasis on Higher Education Routes
The group was greeted and given an overview of NCST’s educational offerings by Dr. Abdulla bin Naser Al Noaimi, CEO. Advanced vocational and technical training pathways are part of these programs, which are designed to prepare graduates to meet the demands of regional and local labor markets.
Examining Possibilities for Collaboration
The meeting’s conversations focused on possible areas of cooperation. These included the introduction of postgraduate specializations in technical and engineering subjects, the creation of collaborative educational projects, and the sharing of academic and research skills.
Interaction with Bahrain’s Principal Sectors
Representatives from Bahrain’s top industrial and technological firms, including Bapco Energies, Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC), Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY), Bahrain Airport Services, and Gulf Air Group, interacted with the delegation. The visitors gained an insight of the workplace requirements for technical and vocational education through a field visit to Aluminium Bahrain (Alba).
Dedication to Excellence in Regional Education
Dr. Al Noaimi underlined NCST’s commitment to working with local leaders in education. He emphasized how crucial it is to coordinate efforts in order to produce qualified graduates who can handle the technological difficulties of the modern world. In order to satisfy the ever-changing demands of the job market, he also emphasized the necessity of an innovative and flexible learning environment.
Moving Toward an Economy Based on Knowledge
The head of the HCT mission, Dr. Luc Verburgh, was upbeat about the trip. According to him, it is a big step in the right direction for the institutions to form a strategic collaboration that would support their common goal of developing technical and vocational skills and creating a knowledge-based economy.
