At its meeting on Wednesday at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the UAE–Lithuania Business Forum focused on strengthening economic ties and opening up new prospects in high-impact industries like technology, innovation, and renewable energy.
Organised by the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the forum underscored the dynamic growth of bilateral relations between the two nations, bolstered by a series of strategic agreements. Among them is a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE Chambers and the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce and Industry—paving the way for greater cooperation and mutual investment.
High-Level Participation and Strategic Vision
Prominent attendees included Sigitas Gailiunas, President of the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce and Industry; H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the UAE Chambers and Chairman of SCCI; and H.E. Also in attendance were SCCI Director-General Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, UAE Chambers Assistant Secretary-General Ahmed Juma Al Qaizi, and Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of SCCI’s International Relations Department—alongside a delegation of investors and business leaders.
In his opening remarks, Al Owais described the forum as a reflection of the UAE’s broader economic diversification strategy and its role as a regional hub for trade and investment. “Today’s forum reaffirms our commitment to building enduring partnerships across emerging sectors like technology, advanced manufacturing, and green energy,” he said. “In this era of global interconnectedness, cross-border collaboration is more vital than ever.”
Al Owais also pointed to the UAE’s robust infrastructure and investor-friendly legal framework as compelling reasons for Lithuanian firms to establish a regional presence in the Emirates.
Lithuania: A Rising Tech Ecosystem
Gailiunas, speaking on behalf of the Lithuanian delegation, highlighted Lithuania’s expanding standing as a startup hub, especially in fields like telecommunications, IT, and software development. “Tech-driven partnerships can flourish in Lithuania.” He pointed out that there is a genuine chance for Emirati businesses to work together and make investments in knowledge-based, fast-growing industries.
Panel Discussions Spotlight Green Innovation
The forum featured a series of expert-led panels and presentations, with discussions centering on joint ventures, renewable energy, and sustainable innovation. Delegates explored investment prospects that align with both nations’ shared environmental commitments, particularly around green technology and carbon reduction initiatives.
A highlight of the event was a detailed presentation from the Sharjah Chamber, promoting the emirate’s diverse investment landscape. Sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, tourism, education, healthcare, and the creative economy were showcased, alongside tailored investor support services.
New Agreements Cement Future Collaboration
SCCI signed two new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts in Šiauliai and Kaunas, Lithuania, in a major step to formalise economic collaboration. The agreements are intended to promote company expansion initiatives, ease trade delegation exchanges, and fortify networks between the commercial sectors of the two nations.
The MoUs also include commitments to share commercial data, engage in joint research, and participate in international exhibitions and training programs—fostering a dynamic ecosystem of knowledge exchange and enterprise development.
Looking Ahead
As both nations look to capitalize on mutual strengths, the UAE–Lithuania Business Forum marks a key milestone in a growing partnership that blends economic ambition with a shared vision for a sustainable, innovation-driven future.
