In a landmark move to strengthen the country’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, the UAE Government has partnered with Google to provide university students across the nation with free access to Google Gemini Pro, the tech giant’s advanced generative AI platform.
The initiative, part of the UAE’s National AI Strategy 2031, offers students a complimentary one-year subscription to Google Gemini 2.5 Pro, giving them access to state-of-the-art AI tools for learning, research, and content creation. The collaboration underscores the UAE’s commitment to building a future-ready, AI-literate generation and consolidating its position as a global leader in technological innovation.
Empowering the Next Generation of AI Talent
The program aligns with the national vision set by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and guided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Both leaders have emphasized developing national talent and equipping youth with advanced technologies to drive innovation across all sectors.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, said the partnership highlights the UAE’s determination to integrate AI across education and society.
“The UAE is committed to achieving global leadership in AI by leveraging advanced technologies to foster knowledge, creativity, and sustainable progress,” Al Olama noted. “Through such partnerships, we are empowering our students and creating a culture of innovation that supports our long-term vision of human-centered technological advancement.”
Growing Demand for AI Skills
According to Anthony Nakache, Managing Director of Google MENA, the collaboration comes amid a surge of interest in AI among students and educators across the UAE.
Google Trends data shows a 110 percent increase in AI-related searches in the country over the past two months compared to the same period last year. Nakache said this reflects the growing appetite for tools that can enhance creativity, learning efficiency, and research outcomes.
“Our goal is to provide equitable access to the latest AI technologies,” he said. “With Gemini Pro, students across the UAE can develop critical skills that will empower them to innovate, research, and learn more effectively.”
Advanced Tools for Learning and Creativity
The Google Gemini 2.5 Pro plan offers a suite of sophisticated features designed to support students’ academic and creative work.
Among them is Deep Research, an AI-powered function that compiles comprehensive insights from hundreds of sources to help students prepare detailed reports and analyses.
Another highlight is NotebookLM, a digital study companion that organizes research notes and creates audio and video summaries, now enhanced with five times more multimedia capacity than earlier versions.
For visual learners, Veo 3 transforms text prompts or images into eight-second video clips with sound, enabling students to create dynamic multimedia presentations.
Each student subscription also includes 2 terabytes of cloud storage on Google Drive, Gmail, Photos, and Docs — ensuring ample space for academic projects, research data, and creative content.
Access and Registration
University students aged 18 and above in the UAE can register for the free 12-month Gemini Pro subscription until December 9, 2025, using their personal email accounts. Once activated, they’ll have full access to Gemini’s generative AI capabilities, including tools for text, image, and video creation.
The program aims to help students streamline their academic workflow — from summarizing long research papers and generating study guides to creating multimedia presentations and even podcast-style audio notes.
Preparing Students for the Future
Beyond traditional learning, Gemini Pro offers personalized learning assistance that can help students prepare for exams, structure essays, and brainstorm ideas. The platform also features step-by-step problem-solving tools and the ability to convert class notes into interactive quizzes, creating a more engaging and adaptive educational experience.
The UAE’s partnership with Google mirrors similar initiatives in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, where Gemini access is expanding as part of Google’s global education strategy. The company says the goal is to equip students with AI literacy and digital skills essential for the workforce of the future.

This collaboration complements the UAE’s wider efforts to embed AI in key sectors such as education, healthcare, energy, and public services. It reflects an ongoing national push to integrate emerging technologies into everyday life while nurturing a culture of lifelong learning.
