Abu Dhabi-based startup CentaureAI has unveiled a new artificial intelligence platform that transforms existing CCTV cameras and IoT systems into live operational intelligence tools. The solution, developed using deep-tech research from Technology Innovation Institute under the Advanced Technology Research Council, was introduced at Make it in the Emirates 2026 following successful early deployments.
The platform enables organisations to move beyond passive surveillance by analysing live video and sensor feeds in real time. It can detect objects, classify activities, recognise behavioural patterns and monitor crowd movement, while also prioritising alerts in complex environments where rapid decision-making is critical.
Traditionally, surveillance systems generate vast amounts of footage that is only reviewed after incidents occur. CentaureAI aims to close this gap by converting these systems into active intelligence layers that interpret events as they happen. This shift is expected to enhance operational efficiency across sectors such as smart cities, transport hubs, energy facilities and critical infrastructure, where response time can directly impact safety and outcomes.
A key advantage of the platform is its compatibility with existing infrastructure. It integrates with CCTV networks, IP cameras, access control systems and IoT devices, allowing organisations to upgrade capabilities without replacing hardware. This significantly lowers adoption barriers across both public and private sectors.
The system also introduces automated workflows that manage incident escalation, logging and notifications. Rather than overwhelming control rooms with raw footage, it filters and prioritises critical events, enabling teams to respond more effectively and reduce the risk of missed signals.
As part of its future roadmap, CentaureAI is developing a proprietary terahertz sensor known as TeraSentrix, designed to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threats. The sensor will integrate directly with the platform to enhance detection accuracy and provide high-confidence alerts.
CentaureAI is the second startup launched from the Technology Innovation Institute ecosystem during the event, following the debut of TACTICA AI, a multi-domain decision-support platform.
The launches reflect a broader push by Abu Dhabi’s research ecosystem to commercialise advanced technologies. Through its venture arm VentureOne, established in 2020, the Advanced Technology Research Council has been accelerating the transition of research into market-ready solutions. Its growing portfolio includes companies such as AI71, QuantumGate, SteerAI and Nabat, highlighting the emirate’s expanding footprint in emerging technologies.
With CentaureAI and TACTICA AI entering live deployment phases, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign tech initiatives are increasingly moving from research labs into real-world applications across multiple industries.
